Beginner Classes
With this class series, you’ll tackle the fundamentals of sewing. Learn the basics of hand sewing (for our youngest students), operating a sewing machine, working with different fabrics, and following a simple pattern to construct a basic item. You’ll complete a few projects over the course of the class series, such as a tote, pillow and simple garment, that will get you from “I want to learn to sew” to “sew inspired!” Classes and age-appropriate projects available for kids, teens and adults. You will learn:
- Safety rules (using machine and by hand
- Cutting fabric correctly
Using patterns
Basic hand stitches (basting, backstitch and overcast)
Machine stitching
Basic Embroidery
Pinning correctly
Finishing
You will be provided with: Sewing kit to make a selected project (choice to be given upon registration)
Course length: 6 classes, 1 hour per class
